Walt Bowlin, David Ostella Complete M1 GT Racing Driver Lineup in Utah

SprintX competition on the docket next for M1 GT Racing

August 8, 2016 – Traveling from their home base near Tampa, Florida across the country to the Utah Motorsports Campus near Salt Lake City, Utah, M1 GT Racing will once again be present in Pirelli World Challenge competition as they focus on the SprintX GT Championship battle. With drivers currently sitting second, fourth and sixth in the driver’s championship and the M1 GT Racing team holding down the second position in the team title chase, the battle for the title will take a turn at the pristine western facility.

With two stout Audi R8s and support from the Audi Sport customer racing program in the previous SprintX event at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, M1 GT Racing will enter Walt Bowlin and David Ostella in the 2016 Audi R8 LMS Ultra. Ostella will make the jump from the 2012 car to join Bowlin in the 2016 edition of the Audi R8 as he begins to make a name for himself in sports car competition.

“David did a great job in Mosport and impressed us all after being out of the driver’s seat for so long,” explained Team Principal and Technical Engineer Remi Lanteigne. “Racing in the newer of the two cars, we are expecting big things from David as we move forward in the 2016 season.”

“I was really happy and excited to get the call to join Walt in Utah,” added Ostella. “The opportunity to drive the 2016 Audi R8 is a dream come true and I will be working hard to show that I deserve this promotion. I would like to thank everyone at M1 GT Racing for believing in me.”

Not only will M1 GT Racing have two successful and talented drivers behind the wheel, Dion von Moltke will also join the Florida based squad as he will take on the role of driver coach for both Bowlin and Ostella in Utah. After competing with the team in Mosport and driving the 2016 car in Road America in June, Dion brings a wealth of knowledge to the team and will be a great asset for M1 GT Racing to ensure success.

Lanteigne continued, “Though we would love to have Dion behind the wheel of one of our well prepared Audi machines, the stars did not quite align for this event to run two cars. Knowing of his talent and coaching abilities, we made sure he was available and ready as a reserve driver for the event weekend. We are hoping that we can have Dion in a race suit and back in the car for future events.”

With on track action beginning Thursday during a promoter’s test day, official practice will take place on Friday. Wheel-to-wheel competition will commence Saturday morning with the first of two official race days. Stay tuned to M1 GT Racing website and social media accounts for event coverage and photos trackside from Utah.

M1 GT Racing would like to thank all of their 2016 partners and supporters. A special thank you to Audi Sport customer racing, Tampa Bay Jaw Surgery, Surgery Centers of America, JND Erectors, Global Precast, Connolly Marbles and Granite, Skyrider Equipment, Brite Con, Canadian Crane, Nutrend, Spyder Active Sports Wear and SkndSkins.
